Local author Nina Furstenau will talk about her new cookbook, Biting Through the Skin: An Indian Kitchen in America’s Heartland.  This will be an interesting event and she will discuss many topics in Indian cooking. World Harvest also has food samples available every Saturday from 12-5 pm.

Trudy Lewis, director of the Creative Writing program at the University of Missouri, will talk about her latest book, The Empire Rolls, and introduce us to the book’s main character Sally LaChance, a park ranger living a double life in a mid-sized Missouri town. In the story, Sally’s life begins to crumble as the economy crashes. During this turmoil, she has to deal with her local roller derby team, angry veterans, a slacker boyfriend and a YouTube video that puts her job, relationships and even her life at risk.
